This web site will seek to commemorate the military service of my grandfather,  Frank Louis Smith who served as a wagoneer in "B" Company of the U.SArmy's 604th Engineers during  World War I.

I will include many photographs and documents that I inherited. These items contain information about the 604th Engineers and the men that served in that unit.

I am also very pleased to include information from William Felknor, who's father William  Felknor also served in Co. " B".  I am amazed to have found Bill living near by and he has graciously shared with me some of his photos as well as information on his father's service.

I would like to also thank Chris Ferrenz, John Sigman and William Felknor Jr. for their contributions to the project. It is amazing to me that we four descendents of the brave men of the 604th Engineers would be collaborating on this project some 85 years after our fathers and grandfathers served together. I think they would be very pleased and proud ! ( we have now added Maurice Sheehy and Beth Carnes to our group of family members )
