WALNUT CREEK (Blanco County). Walnut Creek rises six miles west of the Round Mountain community in northern Blanco County (at 30°25' N, 98°27' W). The creek follows a northeasterly course through Hill Country terrain for fourteen miles to its mouth on Sandy Creek, 4½ miles below the State Highway 71 bridge over Sandy Creek in southeastern Llano County (at 30°34' N, 98°26' W). Walnut Creek flows through loamy soils and rock outcroppings past grasslands and stands of live oak, mesquite, and Ashe juniper.

This is probably the location of Martin Casner's headright.

Texas Cattle Brand Register for Martin Casner

Martin Casner's Cattle Brand register March 15, 1850Cattle brands still play an important role in identifying an animal's owner in Texas cattle ranching. Most of the early brands of Texans, were made of initials and could be read with ease. Richard H. Chisholm owned perhaps the first recorded brand, registered in Gonzales County in 1832.Beginning in 1848, Texas provided for recording brands with the county clerk, with the stipulation that an unrecorded brand did not constitute legal evidence of ownership.
